Spring Break 2011

On Saturday Justin and I flew to New Orleans for an anniversary trip with our good friends the Martins. Will wanted to come and started putting things into our suitcase. Unfortunately he couldn't come but I don't think he cared. He got to spend time with both Justin's family and my parents. I think he was spoiled just a little while we were gone. :)

We got to New Orleans early so we walked down to Jackson Square while we waited for our room to get ready. We looked inside St. Louis Cathedral and had a great lunch. After a little nap we went down to the restaurant in our hotel for a little happy hour and some oysters. Leo was a pro at shucking the oysters.

Then after a wonderful dinner we headed out to Bourbon Street. Even though we were there after Mardi Gras and before St. Patrick's Day the street was still busy.

The next morning we woke up and waled to St. Louis Cememtery Number One for a tour. This is Nicholas Cage's tomb where he will be burried one day.

Then we headed to Brennan's for breakfast with the Martin's who flew in this morning. Brunch was amazing and we even were photographed by a professional photographer from National Geographic Traveler. Look for us in the October edition!

After walking around town and another nap (I could get used to the nap thing) we headed to Pat O'Briens' for a famous Hurricane.

Monday morning we woke up and went to Cafe Du Monde for some yummy beignets. The line was long but worth it!

I know it looks like all we did was eat, and your right. We definatly ate and drank our way through New Orleans. This is lunch at Acme, another yummy meal and we even got there before the line was down the block!

Then we headed to the steam boat for a tour down the Mississippi and of the grounds where the battle of New Orleans took place.

Our last night we had dinner at NOLA, Emerils restaurant. After dinner as we walked back to our hotel we saw a crew filming a movie outside the Omni. Too bad we didn't see the cast because I would have loved to see Brad Pitt! We had a great time and its always nice to get away but we did miss our little man and were happy to get home to see him. Thank you to our families for taking such good care of him while were were away. We are very lucky!
